Photography
For many years I have enjoyed photography. But not just for taking 'snaps' that show the development of the children, or capture memories of travelling; but because of my interest in art, composition, light, tone and texture. For over five years now I have been taking digital images, with the option of developing and enhancing them to suit different needs.
I do find that as I am walking in the countryside, on the beach or even in a busy city I am constantly looking out for an interesting composition - a different angle. I suppose I am trying to see and capture what other people may walk pass, fail to notice, or take for granted. I can clearly see a link between my photography and my counselling, coaching and training work. So much of my work is about encouraging clients to capture the moment; to look at life with a different perspective and to eventually create a composition that is of their choice, their making, a result of their decisions. But all of those things are skills that need to be developed over a period of time. But it is not just skill alone it is also related to attitude and determination.
If I can sum things up briefly, I would say that in both my leisure time hobby of photography and in my professional work I am constantly trying to focus on, 'Seeing things differently'. I am reminded of the Victorian Postcard where if you look carefully you can see much more than the initial image.
As time goes by I am hoping to publish some more albums of my photographs.
